We do not need more government jobs. Private enterprise creates the best jobs. We need to provide an environment where people can get better paying and full-time private sector jobs consistent with each person's interests and goals.

Government policies can and do affect economies that in turn affect whether businesses need to hire, but government does not create many jobs that can be supported long-term by taxpayers. Policies that support private property rights, free enterprise and self-reliance create an atmosphere that improves customer demand so private business can prosper, compete and hire more people. We can provide more jobs by better managing our resources, providing certainty in the law, reducing unnecessary regulations, improving and emphasizing education, and investing in critical infrastructure. We can continue to make Virginia an inviting place for small and large businesses, industries and new entrepreneurs.

Government can also provide incentives to encourage existing businesses to transfer from another location. Governor McDonnell has been working to bring jobs to Virginia from other states and from other countries, such as China. Our state representatives can work with the governor's office to direct those jobs to this area. Our current state senator has failed to advocate to direct any jobs to the 25th district. He has not worked with the Governor's office to help direct the jobs that are coming to Virginia to this district.

America has become the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world because it relies on free enterprise and because of the freedoms guaranteed by the constitution. Freedom and the free enterprise system give us the flexibility to respond quickly to changes. We are all better off because of the competition that the free enterprise system encourages. No fair minded person would say that the free enterprise system is perfect, because it is operated by imperfect people. We all deplore businesses and corporations that fail to recognize there are social and spiritual values as well as profits that need to be considered. (For example, General Electric has reportedly done business with Iran for the sake of profits when Iran has been responsible for killing our soldiers in Iraq. As another example, the dishonesty of Enron's management led to many people's financial ruin.) However, we cannot give up on a system simply because it is not perfect.

TJ will advocate to bring jobs to the 25th district. TJ will promote policies that support the free enterprise system, self-reliance and private property rights which will create a more prosperous business environment. See TJ's speech in Buena Vista, Virginia on Labor Day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XDpxXAQQB8&feature=related
